VITA Copenhagen is our Supplier of the Week; 12 – 18 December.
Danish design meets a Scandinavian feel with the lighting from VITA Copenhagen. Designed to be affordable, readily available, and have a minimal impact on the environment, it is no wonder that their products have been snapped up in projects from the UK through to New Zealand.
We spoke with Head Designer and part owner Søren Ravn Christensen to find out more.
Tell us about VITA Copenhagen in 3 keywords?
VITA Copenhagen is Nordic, flatpacked and affordable design.
What are the key elements of Danish vs Scandinavian design?
Both are simplistic, with Danish being “functional” designs that are built to last for decades. Not so that Scandinavian designs are not functional or designed to last, but they are less often seen as an “all in one product” and more stylistic.
How do you focus on the environment?
We only make designs that in some manner or another can be partially flat packed to ensure the highest possible turnover per square feet in delivery and saves the environment from huge and long transportations of boxes filled with air when they are not flat packed.
Furthermore, VITA Copenhagen only uses materials that can be recycled, while at the same time always trying our best to make products that work across a wide range of interiors.
What have you got in store for 2017?
The Sine and Eos Micro are some of our new-comers. Coming in January will be the new White version of the popular Acorn. Our Cannonball fitting will be available in a 2 or 3 Cluster version so that you can hang any pendant from your ceiling in a cluster. Finally we will have the little Shade, a shade that you tilt in your direction in need of either shade or focussed light.
